Clinical Behavior Analysis

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an action-oriented approach that stems from traditional behavior therapy.  Adult clients learn ways to decrease avoidance and denial, accept emotions and shift toward value-based decisions, and commit to necessary behavior change, regardless of what is going on in their lives and how they feel about it.  Working to figure out why interfering behaviors are happening and then making small shifts to change them will bring about increased joy in all that you do.

ACT proves instrumental for those struggling with neurological or mental health disorders such as anxiety, depression, high-functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder, and attention deficit/hyperactivity.  For example, this may be work with executive functioning skills, organization and life-skill/self-help management, emotional regulation/grounding, cognitive flexibility, and social skill development.

A clinical approach is also a great fit for those who consider themselves neurotypical but are looking to make behavioral changes during a challenging time. This may involve situations such as relationship discord, professional dissatisfaction/burnout, grief, general overwhelm, or dysfunction in sleep or eating routines.

At Thriving Lives you should expect judgment-free, trauma-informed, open support and communication in a welcoming and calming environment.  Together, we will apply functional behavior guidance, create client-centered goals for positive change, increase self-compassion, and introduce empowering tools and strategies to integrate into your daily routines.

Therapeutic Wellness Coaching

A "feel-great" checklist starts with healthy choices... actions that bring about joy.  In health and wellbeing promotion we work with clients trying to make health changes, clients who want to feel better - physically and emotionally.  We find ways to support behavior changes that result in feelings of success, strength, inner peace, and health.  Identifying negative thought and behavior patterns while eating, sleeping, moving, and relaxing can uncover unhealthy cycles.... figuring out why we are engaging in them, and then developing a plan for small shifts is empowering!

The use of behavior-analytic concepts and principles greatly improves progress toward any personal health and wellbeing goal.  Through the use of scientifically-based modalities such as task clarification, goal-setting, self-monitoring, accountability, self-talk regulation, behavioral skills training, and contingency management, you will uncover all that stands in your way, and move on to healthy living.

Parenting-Specific Therapeutic Support

Parenting is one of life's greatest challenges, especially when we put aside our own needs as individuals and couples to focus on the needs of our children.  Overwhelm, anxious thoughts, judgment and self-doubt, are part of the "parent guilt" we often experience, and our actions can be quickly affected.

Our therapeutic support for parents combines tried and true behavior strategy training specific to your family's needs with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).  We build values-based personal goals, and introduce ways to strengthen self-care and self-compassion routines.  We often see joy multiply in a family unit when parents are able to shift toward acceptance and strength within themselves.

Services can be provided to an individual parent, a couple, or a group of adults who are co-parenting in separate homes.  This service can be "parent only" or an important component of your children's individualized program at Thriving Lives—further strengthening your family unit as you move toward joy together.
